After a night of protests, the Macassar community is now dealing with intermittent power supply.

They have been without electricity for some time due construction workers damaging key Eskom cables supplying the area.

According to community activist, Christiaan Stewart, the contractors had drilled without inspecting the underground infrastructure in Macassar.

He says that last night’s community protest was another showing of frustration due Eskom’s lack of communication on their repair work.

Macassar residents have however welcomed the increased police presence after their protest, saying that crime is another concern in the area.
