The Khayelitsha community wants the army to be deployed to the area after yet another fatal shooting at the weekend.

Khayelitsha youth leader, Khanyisa Vedala says that the neighbourhood watches are struggling to protect the public from violence.

This as the police appear to be battling to get to the bottom of these deadly incident.

The Khayelitsha community has been traumatised by a spate of shootings that are allegedly due to an extortion ring.

Vedala says that there is little information on the nature of these cases.

He says that load shedding has also made things worse for residents’ safety.
