Strengthening intra-African trade and establishing peaceful relations among other African nations were merely some of the matters brought up in Kenyan leader Uhuru Kenyatta’s official state visit to South Africa.
Kenya and South Africa have a longstanding relationship that predates Kenya’s historic support for the struggle against Apartheid and colonialism in South Africa.
The visit sought to discuss how the two nations can improve their respective economies and that of the continent as well as address issues of democracy, good governance and respect for human rights – including the emancipation of women and the full realisation of gender equality.
Guest: Dr Webster Zambara, Senior Project Leader of Peace building Initiatives at the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR)
