Eskom expects the two units at the Kendal Power Station that tripped to return to service this week.
On Saturday, Unit 1 caught alight and tripped resulting in Unit 2 and three shutting down. The blaze damaged the cables to the main cooling water system.
Eskom says due to the setback, it would be forced to increase diesel consumption. However, no load shedding is anticipated for the week ahead.
This comes as there has been great concern around Eskom’s infrastructural integrity.
