Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe has accepted a nomination for the position of Chief Justice.
This, despite Hlophe being suspended, and facing possible impeachment after being found guilty of gross misconduct.
In 2008, two apex court justices revealed how the Judge President tried to sway them in a case involving ex-President Jacob Zuma and French arms dealer Thales.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is set to meet and discuss whether they will recommend Hlophe’s suspension to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
