Colonial Israeli settlers have desecrated Islam’s holy book, the Qur’an.
The Zionists tore and burnt copies of the Qur’an before throwing them in a trash container in the Old City of al-Khalil in the West Bank.
The Palestinian resistance has denounced this latest act of provocation and hatred. Hamas spokesperson Abdul-Latif Qanu says the desecration of the Muslim holy book is an unprecedented escalation and is racist. He stressed that this Israeli crime shows that the occupiers are seeking a religious war.
Islamic Jihad’s spokesperson Khader Adnan described the blasphemy as a dangerous escalation noting the Israeli aggression on religious sanctities, and the storming of the holy al-Aqsa Mosque. He called for a responsible response.
Al-Azhar University in Egypt has condemned the Islamophobic act saying it is being perpetrated under the unacceptable silence of the international community, which has failed to play a serious role regarding the inviolability of peoples and their sanctities. It says that this scene demonstrates Zionism’s barbarism, terrorism and racism.
Apartheid Israel and its settlers have a history of attacking places of worship including mosques as well as grave sites in occupied Palestine.
