The ANC is simply playing politics with this idea of a government of national unity or (GNU) to silence those opposed to it going into bed with the DA through a coalition.

Political analyst Professor Steven Friedman says what the ANC is propagating is not remotely what a GNU is.

He explains that a GNU happens usually when a governing party believes that the situation is such that party politics doesn’t matter at this moment in time.

This is usually in times of war and when an economic situation is dire.
