The WHO, UNICEF and UNRWA have called on the warring parties in Gaza to commit to another round of humanitarian pauses to initiate the second phase of a polio vaccination campaign.
The international agencies, along with the Palestinian Ministry of Health have administered the first dose of the vaccine to over 500,000 Palestinian children under the age of ten in Gaza.
UNICEF special representative in the State of Palestine, Jean Gough said that despite the progress made in the first round the job is still far from done.
“The second round of the vaccine is needed for the sake of children everywhere.” said Gough.
According to the health experts, a second dose is needed within four weeks.
