The dome of Indonesia’s largest mosque collapsed following a devastating fire in Jakarta on Thursday.
Video footage shows the Jakarta Islamic Centre’s Grand Mosque engulfed in flames, and very quickly thereafter its large dome falling to the ground wreaking further damage.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. So far, four construction workers have been taken in for questioning.
Jakarta’s acting governor Heru Budi Hartono says discussions are underway at the possibility of continuing the mosque’s renovations so that it can be used once again.
