One of India’s most beloved singers Lata Mangeshkar has died at the age of 92.

Mangeshkar was the voice of more than a thousand Bollywood films. She passed away due to multi-organ failure after being admitted to hospital in January for testing positive for Covid-19.

Mangeshkar had an extraordinary career spanning over half a century. She sang more than 30 000 songs across 36 languages.

The Indian government has declared two days of mourning from Sunday, during which the national flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the country.
