Some sections of society are lamenting the state of human rights in the country.
Abahlali baseMjondolo, who has clashed with the ANC-led government says human rights only exist on paper for the poor.
It notes that when the shack dwellers stand up for their human dignity by raising issues about services like electricity, water, and land they are met with tear gas and shot by the police.
They have accused the ANC and the thieves within the political party of not only betraying the past but the present as well.
They conclude that the poor can vote but they are not invited to participate in government’s decision making.
