The Western Cape Department of Human Settlements has refuted claims that houses are being hijacked in Gugulethu.
It follows claims by a group of residents from an informal settlement in the area, claiming that a housing project intended for them has been hijacked.
Residents say that they have paperwork to prove that they’re the beneficiaries of the housing project.
They also claim that units in Forest Village in Eerste River has been reserved for them and that they have paperwork to back it up.
Human Settlements MEC Tertuis Simmers says these rumours are being spread by impatient people.
