Author, cultural icon and struggle stalwart, Dr Zuleikha Mayat has passed away. Dr Mayat had authored the best selling recipe book Indian Delights and was the founder of the Women’s Cultural Group.

She had also dedicated her life to the struggle; joining the Black Sash during apartheid and opened her home to Nelson Mandela while he was hiding from security forces.

After democracy, she had continued her fight against injustice including standing up for the Palestinian people.
