The Western Cape Health Department is probing allegations that a service provider at Groote Schuur hospital is opting to hire illegal foreign nationals while locals struggle to hold onto their jobs, and even find employment.

The allegations were brought forward by the anti-immigrant group Operation Dudula. Yesterday, members marched to the hospital to hand over a memorandum.

According to the group, Groote Schuur hospital has turned a blind eye to complaints about the service provider that only hired foreigners for positions such as cooks, porters, and even security vacancies.
