The perception that high profile cases get all the polices’ resources must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Oxfam SA Executive Director, Lebogang Ramofoko says that while media and political interest in certain gender-based violence cases appear to be solved quicker, citizens must consider the resourcing of different police precincts.

She was speaking as Jesse Hess’s relative, David van Boven has been found guilty of her murder, as well as that of her grandfather, Chris Lategan.

van Boven’s co-accused, Tasliem Ambrose was acquitted of two counts of murder, sexual assault, fraud, and theft.

However, he was found guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
