Notorious 28s gang boss, George “Geweld” Thomas has been transferred to another maximum-security facility after public outcry. He was reportedly meant to be transferred to a prison in Caledon.
Now Correctional Services Minister, Peter Groenewald has stepped in, and ordered that Thomas be moved to the Helderstroom Prison, which is an alternative maximum-security facility.
The Cape Crime Crisis Committee raised the alarm last week, saying that Thomas had risen in the ranks of the 28s gang, and needed to be kept in a maximum-security prison to ensure the public’s safety.
