Radio 786 is thrilled to introduce Faheem Rhoda Jackson, an Arabic calligrapher, graphic designer, and painter based in Cape Town, South Africa. Born in the historic Bo-Kaap in 1982, Faheem draws inspiration from the area’s deep connections to the earliest Muslim and enslaved communities under Dutch colonial rule.

His work centers on the Janubi script, a unique style he developed inspired by early Cape Islamic manuscripts. Combining Arabic calligraphy with Janubi illumination and Isibheqhe elements, Faheem creates stunning pieces using acrylic inks, paints, and pigments on carefully prepared surfaces. Through his art, he honors the contributions of Cape Muslims and seeks to preserve their rich cultural heritage.
