South Africans are still stuck in limbo ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The president is expected to address the upcoming electricity tariff hike of 18.65%.

Eskom Chairperson Mpho Makwana has previously claimed that President Cyril Ramaphosa never instructed the board not to hike tariffs. The looming electricity price hike comes as South Africans are already slapped with above-inflation prices for everyday items, and are struggling to survive.

With SONA just being a few hours away, it remains to be seen whether citizens will be further cornered by the high cost of living.
