Durban’s notorious Mercedes Benz looter, Mbusi Moloi says he would plead not guilty after being caught stealing groceries from a Woolworths in Glenwood during riots last month.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Durban says Moloi told the court of his attention to not plead guilty through his lawyer.
The 30-year-old was charged with four counts of theft, public violence, trespassing, and contraventions of the National Road Traffic Regulations of 2000 for operating a vehicle where the number plate wasn’t valid.
Moloi gained overnight popularity after a video of him carrying a basket full of groceries to his Mercedez AMG C Class Coupe and driving off went viral.
