Anti-Apartheid activist, Dr Frene Ginwala, has died at the age of 90.
She served as the first National Assembly Speaker of South Africa’s democratic parliament.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has conveyed his condolences to her family, and all who have known her, describing Ginwala as a formidable patriot and leader of the South African nation.
President Ramaphosa thanked Ginwala for her lifetime of contributions towards democracy.
Ginwala passed away at her home last night.
She suffered a stroke two weeks ago.
