Does the building ownership laws protect property owners?

Are the laws governing building ownership failing to protect property owners from illegal occupation? According to the City of Cape Town, it is. It was recently revealed that the City of Cape Town is investigating at least 291 suspected hijacked buildings across the metro. According to Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, some building owners have abandoned their properties die to the complicated “red tape” that must be followed before evicting illegal occupiers.

In this edition of Prime Talk…we take a closer look at property ownership laws and whether it does need improvement to better protect property owners. But also, does the rise in illegal occupation highlight the seriousness of citizens needing housing?
