Phase 3 of the District Six restitution process is finally underway.
Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Thoko Didiza has apologised for the delay.
This as 20 of the 108 beneficiary families have received their keys today.
The process was meant to start in April last year.
But Minister Didiza has assured beneficiaries that they don’t have much longer to wait.
The keys will be handed over in several stages until May 25th.
The Minister says that there are still several family disputes and verification challenges, but that her department is dealing with the problem.
