South Africans would soon be able to download their digital Covid-19 vaccination certificate.
The Health Department says it is still at the testing phase of the system to troubleshoot any potential glitches ahead of the official launch later this week.
Department spokesperson Foster Mohale says tight security has been built into the system to protect individuals’ personal data. The digital vaccine certificate will be phased in due time.
The digital vaccine certificate will be available to download as a PDF and used on a smartphone or printed. A QR code will also be available to make it easier for facilities requiring proof of vaccination upon entry to scan.
In his last Covid-19 update address, President Cyril Ramaphosa noted that the vaccine certificate will be used to facilitate travel and access to establishments and gatherings that require proof of vaccination status.
