An official of the City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department is in a serious condition in hospital after being shot in the arm and stomach.

The senior superintendent was on his way home from the Gugulethu depot when he was attacked.

Mayco Member for Energy, Councillor Beverley van Reenen, has condemned the attack saying Cape Town cannot be a city where the lives of the very officials who are providing essential services are at risk. She says they will always do their utmost to provide services but not at the expense of their employees.
