Cape Town electricity consumers were ill-prepared for the recent electricity price hikes. Founder of Stop COCT Sandra Dickson says the City of Cape Town needs to stop blaming external parties for their steep tariff increases and look inward at how they are managing policies that allow for these increases.
This, as Cape Town residents are having to dig much deeper into their pockets to keep their lights on. The City released a statement saying electricity will be costing municipalities 17% more which will be felt by residents. The blame has been shifted to the power supplier Eskom.
