The price of rapid Covid-19 tests has decreased.
The Competition Commission investigated the high price of these tests after a complaint from the Health Department.
Pathcare, Lancet and Ampath have all agreed to drop the price of the rapid tests to R 150.
These tests initially cost R350 and saw a drop to R250 in November.
But the Commission found that the National Health Lab Services sells these tests for R 150 each, and that UNICEF had dropped the price even further to R 50.
The three labs have since agreed to submit compliance reports to the Commission to monitor the price changes.
