A Gauteng couple has been found guilty of robbing the Labour Department of more than R10 million. The monies were allocated for Covid-19 relief.
The pair who are directors of Denmeng Trading were convicted in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
They had submitted a Temporary Employment Relief Scheme (TERS) claim for more than 550 employees, but the company only employed 22 people. After receiving the money Treasure Moremi, and Moroko Moremi claimed they were mistakenly paid. But after a police investigation they pleaded guilty.
The fraudsters are expected to be sentenced on May 17.
