The perpetrators behind the sabotage at Eskom should be charged with treason.

This is the call from the South African Federation of Trade Unions’ spokesperson, Trevor Shaku.

He was speaking as the police have taken in a person of interest for ordering the sabotage at several power stations.

The suspect is reportedly a high-ranking Eskom official.

But Shaku contends that this goes further than just the ‘person of interest’, as they had to have people within Eskom willing to carry out the sabotage.

Shaku notes that these corrupt officials have essentially stolen the well-being and livelihoods of South Africans.
