A 26-year-old police officer has been killed in Leiden, Delft.

The officer who was off-duty at the time is understood to have been standing outside her house when three gunmen emerged and fired several shots in Gilo Road.

The constable was attached to the Table Bay Harbour police station.

Police say the Hawks are investigating the murder.
