It has emerged that the driver of the bakkie which was transporting learners to school on AZ Berman Drive in Mitchell’s Plain lost control of the vehicle.

It’s contrary to earlier reports that there had been a collision.

Five children were killed in the horrific crash while two others were seriously injured. The kids who lost their lives were between the ages of seven and 11.

The 55-year-old driver of the bakkie was arrested and faces a charge of culpable homicide.
