As South Africa hosts the foreign ministers from BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) member states in Cape Town, International Relations Minister, Naledi Pandor has hailed the gathering as a meeting of like-minded entities.
She says that through these meetings, they will reinforce partnerships which will act as a catalyst for sustained global growth that benefits all.
Minister Pandor says that this evening’s discussions will focus on strengthening and transforming global governance systems, and explore synergies between the BRICS and G20 groups.
This call comes as world powers have evolved to take on a multipolar dynamic.
Meanwhile, veteran journalist, Abdel Bari Atwan contends that the 15th BRICS summit will prove the shift in these regional dynamics.
This is where the likelihood of a new international currency will be discussed.
Atwan says that this will see the end to the US dollar’s domination on international trade.
