Luis Inacio da Silva has been elected as Brazil’s president once again.
The leftist leader defeated incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in a close presidential race.
He secured just over 50 percent of the vote to push out the right-wing Bolsonaro who scored around 49 percent.
Lula has vowed a return to state-driven economic growth and social policies that helped lift millions out of poverty when he governed Brazil from 2003 to 2010.
