According to the Mobility MEC, Ricardo McKenzie, Chairperson of the Paarl Alliance Taxi Association, Siyabulela Mandyoli was killed at his home in Mbekweni.

According to Santaco Western Cape chairperson, Mandla Hermanus, Mandyoli was a key figure during the negotiations that led to the reopening of the B97 route between Mbwekeni and Bellville.

Meanwhile, McKenzie says that this incident is a blow to transport operations in the area and has raised concerns about the impact it will have on commuters.

Last month, Wynberg taxi boss, Charmaine Bailey was shot and killed as she left a meeting in the area. Investigations into both cases continue.
