The ANC in the Western Cape has lent its full support to the people of Kashmir who are confronting Indian occupation.
Speaking at a Kashmir Black Day commemoration the ANC’s MPL Khalid Sayed says they will push for Pretoria to apply pressure on New Delhi to desist from what it’s doing in the disputed Himalayan region.
Kashmiris have long been fighting for their self-determination and independence. In 2019 India scrapped Article 370, stripping Kashmir of its special status and effectively further usurping power.
Sayed has warned that what India, under the ruling BJP is doing in Kashmir represents the right-wing trend globally. He says it poses a threat to the free world.
He believes a united Pakistan could be a major role player in dismantling this racist and imperialist approach. Pakistan has been calling for the international community to pressure New Delhi to end its occupation and human rights abuses as well as attempts to change the demographics of Kashmir.
