The ANC along with its tripartite alliance partners, SACP and Cosatu, will continue to protest the release of Janusz Walus – the man responsible for killing anti-Apartheid activist Chris Hani.
ANC Gauteng Chairperson Panyaza Lesufi says he will ensure that ANC members gather in their numbers on Thursday to protest outside the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre where Walus is serving his sentence.
Members of the tripartite alliance picketed outside the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg yesterday, showcasing their disappointment at the court’s decision to grant Walus parole.
Walus is guilty of assassinating the SACP leader Chris Hani in 1993 as South Africa prepared for a transition to democracy. The charismatic leader was touted as a potential candidate as South Africa’s first democratic president.
