There is a shortage of skilled leadership and management which has contributed to widespread fraud and corruption.
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says the party will be tasked with addressing the fraud that has occurred on all levels of governance.
He has lamented that it is ANC members that are involved in these criminal acts, and enabling the overspend on services.
Ramaphosa has reminded members that this affects service delivery and has led to the party losing its support base.
This was most recently evident in the ANC’s performance during last year’s municipal elections.
While the ANC did not win outright majorities in several municipalities, the declining support at the polls, also lead to the formation of coalition governments.
He was speaking as the party has once again struggled to hold the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
A coalition of seven political parties was recently formed to oust the ANC from its control of the municipality in the Eastern Cape.
