The ANC is heading to the Constitutional Court to challenge a lower court’s order that it must handover its cadre deployment records to the DA.
It comes as the governing party’s appeal bids have failed, the latest being in the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA).
The DA has described the ANC’s move as sheer panic adding that this is only delaying the inevitable. The opposition party is confident that the apex court will dismiss what it calls a frivolous waste of the court’s resources.
The DA’s campaign to access the ANC’s records dating back to January 2013 forms part of a bigger challenge to have the long-standing ANC cadre deployment policy declared unconstitutional.
The ANC has been accused of using cadre deployment to capture the state, extract public resources, and evade accountability.
