The Covid-19 pandemic has once again shown the monopoly that pharmaceutical companies have over the public’s right to safe and affordable health care.

There’s been a global campaign, with South Africa among the many voices calling for global patent laws to be waived during the pandemic. But what about South Africa’s patent laws?
