Alleged gang leader Moegamat Toufiek Brown has been arrested in connection with the April 2020 attempted hit on defence attorney William Booth.
It’s alleged Brown who goes by the alias of Bubbles acted as the middle man in the planning and orchestration of the attempted assassination.
He faces charges for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as gang related charges under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA).
The Hawks say he will appear again in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Suspected underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack and unregistered private investigator, Zane Killian are also standing trial for their alleged involvement in this crime. Three other people including Brown’s wife Kauthar pleaded guilty to their involvement. They are already serving their sentence.
