The Department of Public Works does not have a full list of the properties it owns.

This was revealed when the Wynberg community expressed their outrage at derelict houses being used by criminals.

Ward Councillor, Emile Langenhoven, says that the houses on Waterloo Green Road, were previously occupied by the police, but have since been left, without securing the property.

He has raised concern that the lack of government oversight will result in the ultimate deterioration of public spaces.
