Counterfeit goods to the value of R2.5 million seized in Bellville

Counterfeit goods to the tune of more than R2.5 million have been confiscated in a police operation in Stikland in Bellville.

A search of a truck at a premises in Brug Street resulted in the discovery of 22 bags of popular branded sporting socks. No arrests have yet been made.

Western Cape police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, who termed the trade in counterfeit goods as an economic sabotage, has warned landlords who are aware of illegal activity on their premises that they are also in the polices sights.
