Seven people, including a seven-year-old boy were been gunned down in an informal settlement in Mokokotlong in Johannesburg on Sunday.

The attack occurred after an altercation at a local tavern when a man, allegedly frustrated at the tavern’s closure argued with the owner.

The tavern owner allegedly followed the man home where a family was celebrating lobola negotiations.

The owner then opened fire on the gathering. He then returned home and turned the gun on himself.

Police are investigating seven counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder.
