A man has been arrested for being in the possession of a firearm and ammunition in Paarl East.

On Tuesday, police officers spotted two suspicious individuals in Evans Street, who fled upon approach. During the chase, one suspect discarded a 9mm Beretta, which was recovered by the police.

The suspect was apprehended and charged with illegal firearm possession. He appeared in the Paarl Magistrates’ court on Wednesday.
