Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant beneficiaries are unable to access the R370 due to them struggling to complete the identity verification process.

This process is meant to safeguard against identity fraud. Since the start of the year, the Social Security Agency (SASSA) required beneficiaries who changed their mobile numbers to undergo biometric ID verification.

Deputy Director of #PayTheGrants campaign Elizabeth Raiters says they are still inundated with calls from people battling to access their grants.

News agency GroundUp has also received complaints from SRD grant beneficiaries saying that they never received the verification link they asked for.
