The ball is in the Israeli occupation’s court after the Palestinian resistance movement, accepted the three-stage ceasefire proposal. According to senior Hamas member, Ali Baraka, the agreement includes a permanent ceasefire, no restrictions on the return of displaced people, reconstruction, and prisoner exchange.
The first phase is expected to see a truce and the exchange of 30 Palestinian hostages for each Israeli prisoner of war (POW). The announcement of a permanent ceasefire is expected to only be made in the second phase. The withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces will take place in two stages, with a complete withdrawal from Gaza in the second phase. Baraka says it’s now up to the Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to either take the POWs through negotiations or to escalate and lose everything.
