An attempt by drug kingpin and dealer, Fadwaan Murphy to appeal his conviction and sentence has failed. The Cape High Court dismissed his and his company, Ulterior Trading Solutions application declaring that there were no reasonable prospects of success.
The National Prosecuting Authority says Murphy was last month sentenced to an effective 18-years behind bars and he and his company were fined R2 million after the State successfully argued that his drug dealing came from his greed for money and power and that his actions destroyed communities.
His ex-wife, Shafieka Murphy was also sentenced to 15 years in jail. In his appeals application Fadwaan claimed there were duplications in some of his convictions, that Judge Diana Davis erred in some of her decisions and that the sentence imposed on him, and his company were harsh and induced a sense of shock.
