The eight-month-old baby that reportedly took ill at a Bonteheuwel day care had succumbed to a lung infection.

The investigating officer informed his parents, Zaidah Adams and Tashreeq Canterbury of the autopsy results.

Following Mohammed Qiran Canterbury’s death two months ago, the spotlight was turned on daycare centres in the area.

While Linda’s Daycare was not found responsible for his death, the facility was closed for not being compliant with the Children’s Act.

The boy’s mother, Zaidah has told News 24, that Mohammed Qiran did not show any signs of a lung infection.
