Sweden has yet again defended the desecration of Islam’s holy book the Qur’an.
The Swedish government claims it cannot prevent these hateful acts due to constitutional laws protecting freedom of speech. Sweden’s Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson indicates that they will only look into measures that would allow police to stop the burning of holy scriptures in public if there is a clear threat to national security.
It comes as two anti-Islam bigots set alight the Qur’an during a protest outside the parliament in Stockholm. The same day the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers met to denounce these acts of sacrilege and plot the way forward. They called for these acts to be criminalised.
The OIC is expected to engage the European Union (EU) on the ongoing hate.
Meanwhile the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has denounced the hypocrisy of Sweden.
The movement’s secretary general Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah says Sweden both allows and denounces the Qur’an desecrations.
He further noted that the outcomes of the OIC meeting was fragile as expected. He called on Muslim youth to defend the sacred book without waiting for Muslim governments to protect it.
