The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has been called to take a firm stance on the desecration of Islam’s holy the Qur’an as its set to meet over these acts of sacrilege.

Leader of the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah warns that if the OIC fails do so then it is unqualified to defend Islam.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also called on Muslim countries and their foreign ministers to send a decisive and categorical message that another aggression by Europe will be met with a diplomatic and economic boycott. The Hezbollah leader says if countries do not do so, then brave Muslims and their youth are prepared to act responsibly and punish those who desecrate and burn the Qur’an in defense of their religion.

In recent weeks there have been recurring acts of Qur’an been burnt in Sweden and Denmark under the guise of freedom of expression. Iraq which saw protest has called for these acts of sacrilege to be criminalised alongside racism.

The Danish government has seemingly come to the realisation that it will need to take a tougher stance against those anti-Islam bigots following a backlash.

Denmark’s Foreign Ministry indicates that they are looking at legal means” to stop the desecration of the Qur’an. It adds that such a move would of course be done within the framework of the constitutionally protected freedom of expression.

Similar moves are apparently being considered in Sweden.

But it will need to be seen whether this translates into any real tangible change in Europe or is just mere lip service. Europe has long sought to defend the anti-Islam bigotry under the guise of freedom of expression.
