Kuwait is printing 100 000 copies of the Holy Quran in Swedish.

The project is set to emphasise the Islamic principles and values of tolerance and coexistence.

The move comes in the wake of a growing concern over the desecration Islam’s holy book in Europe with the latest acts of sacrilege taking place in Sweden and Germany.

The United Nations Human Rights Council held a vote on the issue of religious hatred after Pakistan proposed a draft resolution condemning the desecration of the Quran and demanded countries take action. The resolution was adopted with 28 countries voting in favour, 12 against, and seven abstaining.

However, it remains to be seen whether this condemnation will be taken seriously in Europe where anti-Islam sentiment is being stoked including by governments.
